Foo Fighters Drop Off Soundside Fest Just Days Before Headlining Set

Jack White and Greta Van Fleet will replace Dave Grohl and company in September 29 headlining slot at Bridgeport, Connecticut festival

Foo Fighters canceled their performance at this weekend’s Soundside Music Festival just two days before they were set to headline the Bridgeport, Connecticut fest.

“Foo Fighters will no longer be appearing at this weekend’s Soundside Music Festival,” the band said on social media Thursday. “Please check the festival website for more information.”

No explanation for the cancelation was given, but festival organizers insinuated it was a band decision, writing soon after on social media, “Unfortunately, Foo Fighters have announced they’re no longer performing this weekend.”

Soundside moved fast to replace Foo Fighters, enlisting Jack White and Greta Van Fleet to fill in the Saturday night headlining spot; White, in the midst of his No Name tour, will jump from Connecticut to Oregon in the span of one day, as he’s booked to play Portland the following night on September 30.

Foo Fighters’ Soundside gig was set to be the band’s first show since Dave Grohl announced that he had fathered a child out of marriage. “I’ve recently become the father of a new baby daughter, born outside of my marriage. I plan to be a loving and supportive parent to her,” Grohl said on social media on September 10.

“I love my wife and my children, and I am doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness. We’re grateful for your consideration toward all the children involved, as we move forward together.”

The Soundside headlining show was the final show on the Foo Fighters’ 2024 touring schedule; the band last performed together on August 18 at Seattle’s T-Mobile Park.
