A Cowboy Carter Christmas will premiere live on Netflix on December 25
Beyoncé is brushing up on her banjo-playing skills for her first-ever Cowboy Carter live performances during the halftime show of Netflix‘s inaugural NFL Christmas Gameday. The singer released a teaser on Tuesday, sending fans “big joy and love on this Cowboy Christmas Eve.”
The short clip features Beyoncé sitting on a chair in the middle of a football field while playing a white banjo. At one point, the video appears to stall just as it zooms in on Beyoncé’s face — but just before viewers get the urge to hit refresh on the clip, the singer lets out a little laugh, and the video resumes, seemingly poking fun at Netflix’s bumpy history with streaming live events. (The streaming giant was most recently hit with a civil lawsuit after fans claimed it failed to prepare for the 60 million viewers who tuned in for the Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson fight, causing delays and lockouts in the live feed.)
“I’m sending you big joy and love on this Cowboy Christmas Eve,” Beyoncé wrote. “I’ll see y’all tomorrow, in my city HTX.”
A Cowboy Carter Christmas will premiere live on Netflix on December 25. The set will begin midway through the Houston Texans match-up against the Baltimore Ravens, scheduled for 4:30 p.m. EST at NRG Stadium in Houston. It will mark the singer’s first live performance of her eccentric country album, which features tracks such as “Spaghettii,” “II Most Wanted,” and “Levii’s Jeans.”
“With Netflix and Beyoncé, the NFL kicks off what is expected to be a new holiday tradition, as Netflix has also announced NFL games for 2025 and 2026,” Netflix shared in November. “Produced by Beyoncé’s Parkwood Entertainment and Jesse Collins Entertainment, this year’s halftime show will be the first live performance of songs from her genre-bending and record-breaking album Cowboy Carter.”
