Ava Max keeps finding leaks of her demos online — and she wants it to stop. This morning, the pop star shared a post asking fans to “respect my art” and quit leaking her records and demos.
“I have a lot of demos I’ve written that are not finalized records and I’d appreciate it if you stop leaking these records like this one,” she wrote, including a snippet for an unreleased song called “Phenomenon.” “A lot of records I write do not ever see the light of day and I understand your frustration but this is not right. I write a lot of records I wish I could put out.”
Max added that she had found five different songs leaked just that day and vowed to “find out who did this … like I usually do.”
“I’ve never posted about this since the leak of my second album prematurely,” she wrote. “I respect my art so I can keep working on making the songs I wanna put out that make sense for my project.”
Most of Max’s second album, Diamonds & Dancefloors, leaked online in early October 2022, shortly after she pushed the LP release back to January of the following year. (She had originally announced an Oct. 14 release date.) When speaking to Rolling Stone about it at the time, she shared how hurtful it is to see her rollout affected by leaks.
“That leak was crazy. I never know how those things happen, but every time they do, it upsets me because I want to be the first one to put them out,” she told Rolling Stone. “I just don’t know how people leak that. I don’t even know how they find it. It’s crazy.
“It hurts because you put so much work towards the body of work and then it’s out there,” she added. “And I know not everyone heard it and it’s hard to find, but a lot of people did. It’s definitely hurtful, for sure.”
At the time, Max made a TikTok addressing the releases, telling fans directly she was “extremely upset” about her songs making their way online before their official releases.
Max released a handful of songs in 2024, including “Whatever,” which sampled Shakira’s “Whenever, Wherever,” solo single “My Oh My,” and September’s “Spot a Fake.” She also joined David Guetta to reimagine Alphaville’s “Forever Young.”
