Watch Marc Anthony and La India Perform of ‘Vivir Lo Nuestro’
It was battle of the highest vocal belts for Marc Anthony‘s tribute to salsa music at the Latin Grammys on Thursday night.
Anthony, who executive produced the special segment for the 25th annual ceremony, also performed throughout its entirety alongside salsa icons like Tito Nieves, Oscar D’León, Grupo Niche. Fresh faces Luis Figueroa and Christian Alicea joined the tribute early on, sharing the stage with Nieve for a performance of “De Mí Enamórate.”
The tribute also included a medley of Niche’s “Una Aventura,” Frankie Ruiz’s “Tú Me Vuelves Loco” and De Léon’s “Llorarás.” The cherry on top was La India joining Anthony to sing their 1994 hit “Vivir Lo Nuestro” for the first time in 29 years. Karol G, Carlos Vives and other Latin music giants covered their mouths in shock.
Variety broke the news of Anthony’s involvement in a salsa tribute at the Latin Grammys. He said, “This segment is a celebration of salsa genre, the artists and the songs that have shaped our lives. I am very happy to be able to share this vision with the fans. The journey continues!”
Anthony was nominated for two Latin Grammys this year: best salsa album for his 11th studio effort, “Muevense,” and best shot form music video for “Ale Ale.” Anthony has won nine Latin Grammy awards in his decades-long career, starting with a song of the year win for “Dímelo (I Need To Know)” at the inaugural awards in 2000.
Additional performers for the show this year include Alejandro Fernández, Becky G, Ángela and Leonardo Aguilar, Anitta, Joe Jonas, Ela Taubert, Trueno, Myke Towers, Alvaro Diaz, Jon Bon Jovi, Juan Luis Guerra, Kali Uchis, Pitbull and many more.
