Tim Allen ABC Comedy ‘Shifting Gears’ Casts Seann William Scott
Seann William Scott has joined the upcoming ABC comedy series “Shifting Gears,” Variety has learned.
Scott will appear alongside series leads Tim Allen and Kat Dennings, as well as cast members Daryl “Chill” Mitchell, Maxwell Simkins, and Barrett Margolis. The show was picked up to series in July with plans to begin shooting in November.
As previously announced, Allen stars in the series as Matt, “the stubborn, widowed owner of a classic car restoration shop,” per the official logline. “When Matt’s estranged daughter (Dennings) and her teenage kids move into his house, the real restoration begins.”
Scott will appear in the newly created series regular role of Gabriel, who is described as a “family friend of Matt & Riley who works in the shop with Matt.”
This will be just the third series regular role Scott has had in his career. He previously starred in the Fox mockumentary comedy “Welcome to Flatch” as well as the third season of Fox’s series adaptation of “Lethal Weapon.” He is primarily known for his work in films, including the two “Goon” movies, the “American Pie” franchise, “Role Models,” “Super Troopers 2,” “The Dukes of Hazzard,” and “Bloodline.” He most recently appeared in the action comedy “Jackpot” and will next be seen in the feature “Bad Man.”

Michelle Nader serves as executive producer and showrunner on the series. Allen executive produces in addition to starring, with Dennings serving as producer. Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements, Richard Baker, Rick Messina, John Pasquin (who directed the pilot episode), Jim Patterson, Bob Daily and John Amodeo also executive produce. Mike Scully and Julie Thacker Scully are executive producers on the pilot episode. 20th Television is the studio.
