Menendez Brothers Series ‘Monsters’ Leads Luminate Streaming Ratings
“Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story” debuted with 2.7 billion minutes watched in its first full week of availability on Netflix, easily landing on top of Luminate’s weekly ranking of streaming original viewership. The Ryan Murphy series was nearly three times above the next-most-watched title of the week: “The Perfect Couple,” which hit 916.4 million minutes watched in its third full week of availability.
There was another large drop-off between second place and third place, with “Tulsa King” Season 2 accruing 916.4 million minutes watched in the week of the release of its second episode. Next was a tie: “Emily in Paris” Season 4 in the second full week of availability of Part 2, and “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” Season 2 in the first full week of availability of its sixth episode and the first day of availability of its seventh episode. Both titles hit 398.3 million minutes watched.
“Agatha All Along,” the newest Marvel Cinematic Universe series, was the only other streaming original series to hit above 300 million minutes watched, making 304.7 million in its first full week on Disney+. Behind it were all repeat titles: “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives,” “Into the Fire: The Lost Daughter,” Season 1 of “Tulsa King” and “Bad Monkey.”
On the film chart, “Rebel Ridge” held strong at No. 1 with 363.7 million minutes watched. Netflix’s “His Three Daughters” debuted at No. 2 with 290.1 million, followed by “Uglies” with 230.1 million minutes watched in its second full week.
The rest of the chart went to titles with less than 100 million minutes watched: “The Union,” “Officer Black Belt,” “Jailbreak: Love on the Run,” “The Deliverance,” “Descendants: The Rise of Red,” “Hocus Pocus 2” and “A Family Affair.”
