After being trapped for days in the rubble of the Golden Country Hotel, a survivor was rescued by Chinese rescuers in Mandalay City following Myanmar’s deadly earthquake.

A survivor was rescued alive from the ruins of a collapsed hotel in Mandalay City on Wednesday, over five days after a devastating earthquake struck Myanmar.

The man, who had been trapped under the debris of the Golden Country Hotel since Friday’s 7.9-magnitude quake, was found in a stable condition after nearly 125 hours.

Chinese rescuers, part of the large-scale emergency response, carried out a careful operation to free him. The survivor, the ninth pulled from the rubble, was given water and transferred to a medical facility.

The earthquake has claimed over 2,800 lives and left more than 4,600 injured.
