Global Journalists Conference 2025 concludes in Seoul with focus on AI and climate change

SEOUL — The 2025 Global Journalists Conference concluded in the South Korean capital Seoul, with the participation of 70 journalists from over 60 countries around the world.
Organized by the Journalists Association of Korea with support from South Korea’s Ministries of Culture and Foreign Affairs, the conference tackled pressing issues shaping the future of journalism, including the impact of artificial intelligence and the media’s role in addressing climate change.
Okaz took part in the international media delegation and attended key sessions that explored the rapid influence of AI on journalism, highlighting the urgent need for new legislation and ethical frameworks to ensure the responsible use of such technologies. Speakers also emphasized the importance of transparency and professional training for journalists working in the evolving digital landscape.
The conference also addressed the vital responsibility of the press in reporting environmental facts and raising public awareness of climate change risks. Participants called for enhanced global media cooperation to deliver accurate and comprehensive coverage of these critical issues.
In the closing session, Okaz journalist Abdulaziz Al-Shehri thanked the Journalists Association of Korea for the generous invitation and excellent organization, praising the conference for unifying global media perspectives and offering a valuable platform for dialogue that supports the development of journalism.
The event also featured an immersive cultural program, including visits to several South Korean cities such as Incheon, Anseong, Siheung, and Jeju Island, aimed at introducing participants to local culture and Korea’s media experience.
Founded in 1964, the Journalists Association of Korea is one of the largest media organizations globally, with over 10,000 members. It supports journalists and promotes professional excellence through annual conferences and training programs.
